Greetings and thank you for joining our mailing list! The New Orleans Center for the Gulf South at Tulane University instigates and supports research, teaching, and community engagement that deepen understandings and forge new narratives about this influential, transnational city and region. We aim to cultivate care and respect for one another and for the significance of place in our lives--a portable mindset that can be taken wherever one may go. Our programming is based on the belief that the more we understand where we are, the more we can engage in our democracy and collective destiny. This newsletter will contain information about the Center's upcoming programs and events. You will also learn more about events pertaining to the Music Rising at Tulane program. Music Rising at Tulane fosters national and international study through the work of K-12 educators and university scholars. The program is dedicated to the study, preservation, and the promotion of musical cultures of the Gulf South region, including the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas, as well as the Caribbean, Latin America and the African Diaspora.
